Re: bars: According to state law there are no official bars in TN. There are only restaurants that serve alcohol. Yes, carry is allowed into them, unless they have posted. 'Gunbusters' circle and slash decals are valid to keep you out, but the sign over the bar that says its illegal to be there with a weapon only applies to non-permit holders.
General points: keep your permit handy at all times when carrying. It is illegal to go armed in TN, and having a permit is a defense to the charge of going armed. That means any cop has RAS / PC to ask for your permit if they notice your weapon. Open carry is legal with permit, but unusual. Downtown you will probably get the police called on you. Consumption of alcohol while armed is a crime, as is wearing arms when you have any in your system.
Off topic a little, I believe the opry is still closed from the may flood, but I don't know for certain.
