:cuss:Chicago has produced a list of guns it will not register because they are not safe enough.

It is really a Saturday Night Special Ban. Read the list. Citizens of Chicago can only arm themselves if they can afford expensive guns.

Gun manufacturers that specialize in making small, inexpensive handguns are shut out of the Chicago market.:uhoh:

This is also un-American because these firearms cannot be imported and is a 100% US manufacturer base.:cuss:

Chicago Police Department Roster of “Unsafe Handguns”

Acme Disintegrating Pistol Banned in Chicago

AmmoLand Gun News
Chicago, IL --(Ammoland.com)- The City of Chicago released its roster of “unsafe handguns” that cannot be legally possessed in the City because they cannot be registered with the police as one part of obtaining a license to possess a gun, as required under the City’s new gun laws.

But the list is not limited to hand guns as the law is so vague it can be interpreted as to apply to all guns made by a manufacture.

Of comical interest is banning of the deadly Daisy BB Gun Line, probably because of it pure destructive power.

And don’t forget Acme. Knowing who we are dealing with here they are probably referring to Acme Corporation from Looney Tunes? The coyote better watch out for Mayor Daley and his thugs now.

So besides a bunch of guns that have not been made in a 100 years what do you see on this list that is funny or raises your eyebrow? Leave us some comments below.

ROSTER OF UNSAFE HUNDGUNS AS DESIGNATED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT

The following handguns have been specifically disapproved by the Superintendent as unsafe handguns and therefore cannot be registered within the City of Chicago.

Calling Alan Gura

I was going to donate my Hi-Point as part of a rape prevention kit, but now I will keep it.

I look forward to the day when I can open carry my Hi-Point C9 in Chicago and thumb my nose at the Daley the Civil Rights hater.

Welcome to the 21st Century version of "Jim Crow"...

"O lawdy, pick a new Sig-Sauer,
O lawdy, put a Colt in yo hand.
O lawdy, pick a Smiff 'n Wesson,
Daley won't approve unless it cost over a Grand..."

I would think that listing prohibited manufacturers and models, without naming an objective set of criteria that establishes what an "unsafe gun" is, constitutes and unconstitutional level of arbitrariness in denying these companies their right to participate in otherwise legal commerce.

And that's one of the reasons they're being sued, again.

The manufacturers ought to have standing to sue, and they have deep, deep pockets with which to hire lawyers. Hopefully, they will get to refill them even more from the proceeds.

Most of the manufacturers on that list are VERY small shops, and are operating on shoestring budgets. I'd say tht of ALL those manufacturers, only HiPoint, Bond Arms, and NAA are the only ones with enough capital to even attempt a lawsuit.

And besides, about a quarter of the companies on that list aren't even in business anymore. This is, of course, to keep poor people who purchased inexpensive firearms in the past from legally registering them.

Racist. Classist. Jim Crow...

The "big boys" like Colt or Sig or Ruger who CAN afford it aren't on the list, and so don't have "a dog in the fight", and either won't sue (because they don't have to) or CAN'T sue, because they don't have "standing", seeing as how they could claim no damages or infringements...

Sort of like how the NRA does things...

This whole thing is bullshit. I can't believe what these guys in Chicago are trying to do.

Oops... My bad. Missed that somehow... The list is SOOOO long, that I just didn't see those brand names and models...

However, Colt hasn't produced a "derringer" in almost 100 years, and they are so collectible that they are hard to find for under $2000, so that puts them out of the range of most rational gun owners, and DEFINITELY makes them pretty much useless and impractical for use as SD firearms. Still, they shouldn't be on there. Of all the derringers made, Colts were some of the highest quality ones out there.

The S&W "spur models" are on there because they are the cheapest guns Smith makes, and the most popular, and there are THOUSANDS of used ones out there that can be had for a few hundred bucks. Nothing whatsoever to do with "safety"...

I have NO idea why the Sig Mosquito is on that list. It's a great little "plinker" (although not nearly as reliable as the Walther P22 or the Ruger .22 semiautos) and is VERY popular. The only reason I can imagine it's on that list is BECAUSE it's popular and relatively inexpensive. It's interesting that the big-bore Sigs (which cost 3 or 4 times what the Mosquito does) are not on that list.

If these guns were REALLY unsafe, wouldn't the BATF have some sort of regulatory ability to keep them off the market? I think Customs would stop the Walthers and Sigs at the docks if they were really "unsafe". There are already some pretty strict laws about firearms manufacturing to cover "safety"...

I'm not saying I agree with Chicago's list (I DON'T, and I think it's just a giant sham). I'm just predicting what they'll say as justification. These "safety" reasons are all totally unmitigated BS, and I think we ALL know what the REAL reason these high-quality/low price firearms are on the list--to keep guns out of the hands of the "wrong kinds of people"...

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Welcome to Jim Crow, 21st Century-style.

Something I've been wondering about for a while...

Since 2008, new recruits to the Chicago Police Department have been required to purchase thei rown firearms (Glock 9mm models) with THEIR OWN MONEY, taken from their "uniform allowance" fund.

If there is a BAN on personally-owned handguns, how can they do that? Do they get a "pass" because they are cops? Are the guns actually property of the city, but the officers have to pay for them? Wouldn't that be a "straw purchase"?

Just how does this work?...

Why does it not surprise me that Hi-Point firearms made the list? They're supposedly the fourth largest manufacturer of handguns in the country, so they must make a good product. Sure, their handguns are ugly and heavy, but they work. Unsafe? I'd sure like to see Chicago's criteria for determining safety.

They might not have standing, but they could certainly help bankroll a suit if they wanted to. In the long run I think that would be in their best interests...

I believe that in Chicago, that is determined by the color and income level of the person who can afford to purchase any particular gun...

Meaning if you can only afford one of these guns, that is unsafe.

But if you're a lying, corrupt, mob-connected rich white guy, then pretty much any gun YOU would want is OK...

Get the picture?

I see that Cobray is NOT on the list. So my "Ladies home Companion" pistol is legal but not the HiPoint C9. My Cobray holds 12 rounds of 45/70 Gov't and is classified as a pistol.

Cool hand gun, but I swear, every time I look at it, I find myself looking for "ACME" stamped on it somewhere. LOL (I want one !!!)

More like they are the two easiest and cheapest pistols to throw a silencer on sold today? Most other guns require gunsmithing.

.22LR silencers are relatively cheap and are 'drop-in' parts on the p22 and mosquito.

I second everything else on your post too.
