Popular Mechanics and Popular Science lost all credibility with me in the 1970's with their propaganda piece on the "Glomar Explorer" and the whole line about "mineral nodules" on the bottom of the ocean. It is a proven fact that they have "intelligence community" advisers on their editorial board, and that the REAL decisions on "big stories" are made in Langley and Ft. Meade...
Any article they produce on current events, the law, or international issues can be summarily dismissed as engineered propaganda. End of discussion.
This article SOUNDS like it's on our side, but there's some deeper motivation here, folks. If nothing else, this article is prompting a lot of otherwise mild-mannered and submissive people--tourists, art students, photography buffs, wildlife photographers--who would normally just back down from police to stand up for their rights. And we all know where THAT leads these days...
We've already seen what happens when you carry in a Costco.
We've all seen what happens when you celebrate a big sports event in College Park MD.
And we all know what happens when you
dare to video public servants on the highway in MD.
Expect the next trend in beat-downs, false arrest, and even shootings to be for photography.
Its just a matter of time before someone with an iPhone or a Sony DV camera gets "ventilated'. Mark my words--this WILL happen before the end of 2011.
This isn't an "if", it's just a "when"...
OC? With a camera? Now you're
REALLY asking for it. Might as well wear a t-shirt with a B-27 silhouette printed on it...
