Spike TV coming up this Saturday 07/24/2010 has a few new shows coming on, there is not much information on them but the titles look intriguing.
I have not been able to find much about these shows but I will be recording to view them for their content.

  1. What if? 9:00 AM PST Examining dangerous scenarios that could have turned out differently with the right training and preparations.
  2. Because Lives Depend On It. 9:30 AM PST Law enforcement and safety experts explore and discuss tactics that apply to everyday life.
  3. Practical Tactical. 10:00 AM PST Self Defense experts demonstrate techniques to help people survive dangerous scenarios.
  4. Concealed Carry School. 10:30 AM PST Victims of crime take a "conceal and carry" class at a Texas weaponry school

I love Spike TV!

Thanks for the heads up Dave. I love spike, but hate watching TV. The shows seem interesting enough to set the DVR and check them out.

I watched them this morning and well, I was not overly impressed but has positive spin on the Self Defense Carry of Firearms none the less.

Concealed Carry School
was in my view the better of the 4 shows.
Which promote professional training and show case a young woman that was assaulted and robbed at gun point.

Because Lives Depend On It came in second for me, but with a couple of things that were concerning.
Their testing seemed to be designed to support their view that the 9MM and 40S&W was preferred over the 45ACP do to speed it could be fired and amount of ammo with out reloading. (I am not debating the issue of what caliber is best, I know what caliber is best for me and I leave it at that)

  • One being Their comparisons were apples and oranges when comparing the speed of shooting a 9MM SA, 40S&W DAO and a 45 ACP SA
  • They then shot 15 rounds at 3 targets, which the 9MM and 40S&W had enough rounds to finish with out a reload.
  • Shooting through cinder blocks which the 9MM did not do so well but the 45ACP blew it apart.
  • They concluded with the 9MM was the preferred with Hollow Point over the 45ACP in Ball Ammo.
As I said apples and oranges.

In one of the shows it told a story of a Armed Man and his Wife in a parking lot and approached to be robbed by 1 then 2 and then 4 masked men.
The only issue here I had was that the actor was holding his pistol with his weak hand thumb behind the slide when gripping to shoot!

Hopefully next Saturday it will be a little more impressive.
