Anyone know of a good place to camp that is somewhat (up to a mile) off the beaten path up in Pike by Monument? Getting fishing licenses for my brother and I this week and thought it would be nice to go spend some quiet time up in the mountains and I want to carry so I'm going to try out Pike this time. Also, is open carry legal near Eleven Mile?

I access Pike National Forest from Highway 285. Great secluded areas to target shoot. You shouldn't have any issues finding a flat place to camp near the Platte or between to mountain tops.

Rampart Resevoir is a nice place to try your fishing skills but you do have to pay to get into the resevoir area. You have to leave the area and go North on rampart Range Road and then go well off the road if you want to shoot. The whole area along Rampart Range Road has been closed to shooting due to the amount of vehicle traffic along the road so be careful but if it is fishing and just OC'n then I recommend Rampart Resevoir... enjoy.
