nifty idea, but it doesn't address the current needs of car carrying, or it's legalities. it will never catch on.

Definition of "encased"

167.31(b) “Encased” means enclosed in a case that is expressly made for the purpose of containing a firearm and that is completely zipped, snapped, buckled, tied or otherwise fastened with no part of the firearm exposed.

Seems this compartment qualifies as a case. A nice large one.

Would you explain please. The guns are encased, out of reach and secure.

Unless I'm missing something, doesn't WI law preclude us from having an open case on or in a vehicle? If so, just the act of opening the side pod exposing the guns would allow the guns to be in an open case on/in the truck.

Or am I missing something?

Interesting. I feel like I'm just getting in the way here, but for there to be an "on", must not an "off" be possible? Same as if there is an "in", must not an "out" be possible? It seems the case is inseparable from the vehicle, so how could it be "in" or "on" it?

I can only imagine making this case in court. The judge would immediately issue a warrant to search my home for marijuana :D

I would have to agree with Paul here. You would have to encase the firearm (like with a gun sock) and then place it in THIS container.

Perhaps this model/accessory package is targeted to customers in states that respect the right of law-abiding citizens to carry in their vehicle. ;)

Having said that, its nice to know that Chrysler isn't so overwhelmed with pressure from Obama's socialist takeover that they don't design for the free men.

You can take this with a grain of salt ,I asked my local DNR warden about this and was told that while you are un-casing or en-casing your firearm at your vehicle it is permissable to put your firearm on or in the vehicle while you get ready to do whatever your a going to do. IF they observe you for more than 10 min. with your weapon on or in your vehicle uncased, they can cite you for the weapon/vehicle laws and if your hunting, hunting from a vehicle or from the roadway if your parked along the road.
Thats the DNR stand as I was told when I reported some guys coyote hunting from the road in front of my house and trespassing on my property.

There's no way LE or the DNR would treat this any different from the trunk on a passenger car, or a those big boxes that go in the front of your truck's bed. You'd have to use a "gun sock" to legally transport them in it.

Lets say you did get pulled over, would leo or the dnr be able to search you just because of this "gun safe"?
