Assemblymember Lori Saldana's Office Violates State and Federal Privacy Laws

In the process of obtaining the latest amended version of AB 1934 from her Sacramento Office, Assemblymember Lori Saldana’s staff submitted the sensitive personal information of several private citizens including Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, birthdates, and spouse’s names to a member of the Responsible Citizens of California. This information was printed on the reverse side of the most current version of the floor analysis for AB 1934. The carelessness being demonstrated in not properly securing such sensitive personal information can potentially cause great personal and financial harm to the individuals involved and is a clear violation of several State and Federal privacy laws. Due to the fact that these individuals all happen to all be City Council Members from various municipalities in the State of California (City of San Diego, City of Chula Vista, and City of Encinitas) further elevates this risk of personal and financial harm. Here is the Responsible Citizens of California's Press Release on this matter:

A citizen may not be required to offer a ―good and substantial reason-- why he should be permitted to exercise his rights. The right‘s existence is all the reason he needs.

Even though we are supposed to have equal protections under the 14th amendment the legislature makes their own rules which they have to abide by.
