Recorder, yes...

Yes, You should ask. Just be polite and respectful. Say something to the effect of, "I chose this hotel because Firearms were not prohibited, now you are telling me they are?" Until someone actually asks you to leave, keep going up the chain of command.

I also recommend purchasing a digital audio recorder, just to cover your ass. Remember being told "there are no firearms allowed" is not the same as being asked to leave. That doesn't mean these metro dropouts we call hotel security wont change their story, you can use the audio to back up your side of the story

DO NOT hand over your firearms to anyone. I'm guessing that you are flying in since you are coming all the way from Florida. That means you probably have a TSA approved hard sided container that you stowed your firearm in during the flight. I would leave your firearm in there tucked away inside your suitcase while you check in. Once you get to your room I would holster up.

A small digital reorder is a must. If it is your word against theirs, you loose. I carry a small sony unit that fits in a cell phone holster so people think that is what it is and are not too carefull what they say.

If not, then I'll probably just go with the security gun locker bs (provided I get a written guarantee that my property will be insured by the casino).

If you do this, talk to the hotel manager, and have HIM sign that the hotel is taking responsibility for the safety of your pistol -- if he won't do that, ask him, flat out, if he is prohibiting you from having your pistol in the hotel. GET HIS NAME. If he clears you in, make sure he tells the rent-a-cops. If he doesn't, then ask him to recommend another hotel for you to stay in, and inform him that you will be ready to check out in 15 minutes -- "do you want to send your security with me, or have someone pack and bring me my belongings, because I'm not willing to leave my expensive pistol in your care without that letter taking responsibility."

I dont' remember his name, but someone recently (month or so) posted about his stay in Vegas. He was from California, and he stayed at Excalibur. He posted his pictures taken from his room etc.

He had a CCW and carried concealed when inside the hotels. He came to say hello while I was at work on the strip and was concealed.

Just checked in at the Bellagio. I used the valet service to bring our bags to the room. Apparently they X-Ray those bags so when they came up there was a security officer with them who informed me they had X-Rayed the bags and found my firearm. He proceeded to write out a property slip and inform me it was hotel policy to secure all firearms in the security safe.

So I am free to check out my pistol when ever I want to go shooting or out and about, but what a pain.

So be aware that valet serviced bags are subject to additional scrutiny that those just carried in are not privilege to.

That's BS. I'll never go there again! I'm well over 65 but I always carry my own bags wherever I go.

So did you collect your things and check out? There is NO WAY I would let my firearm out of sight and handled by anyone but me. What if some numbnuts somehow starts playing with it, decides hey I got some ammo and a mag that fits this. And then shoots himself or someone else. They gonna be looking at you to sue.

It was in a gun vault and that's the way I left it. They took the whole thing. There are no magazines or ammo with it. So it's as secure as I can make it under the circumstance. This is our anniversary trip so I have to have some latitude here to keep the wife happy.

Thats the point as secure as you can make it. Which isnt secure because it is no longer under your control.

Seems you could ask for it as you go for a walk and then not return it. Really how would they know?
