I have been researching for some time and can not seem to ID my G19. Serial number starts with " AXX###US "

I can not seem to find this prefix online ... wondering if anyone has any thoughts or knowledge... any help is appreciated.

The first letters in a Glock serial number relates to the date of manufacture.

Unfortunately, yours (AXX) does not relate to anything on the charts.
See info in this link that would seem to indicate a 2nd generation made sometime in 1994:

Thank you for responding. Obviously you found the same thing I did. I guess I will have to call Glock Monday to satisfy my curiosity. I bought my G19 at an estate sale and have virtually no information on it.

Thanks again.

Wouldn't it be something to discover that you have a rare and distinct variant - then you could add to stories of I found it at an estate, yard or garage sale with your own chapter.

Others have come across prizes in that manner. I have never been so lucky.

Let us know what information you acquire.

I try to hit every estate sale I see and have time for. I have acquired several firearms this way ( decline to say how many for obvious reasons ) I actually found my 22c at an estate sale and the woman was going to sell it to me for $100.00 ... I could not pay that in good conscience so I explained to the woman it was worth far more and doubled her asking price .. still getting a good deal myself while not taking total advantage of her ignorance.

Indeed you are a gentleman.

If she had been offering half a dozen for the same total price (just wanted to get them gone) you would have made her the same deal?

Hmm now there is something to ponder. If I explained to her the potential value and she still insisted .. I would definitely walk with that unbelievable STEAL ;)

Update

Just spoke with the armorer at Glock and was told this firearm was imported June 28 1994. I asked him what was up with the AXX prefix and he had no information other than this is a very early model G19. Interesting this is .. he said this was imported and it has no Austrian markings .. Things that make you go " HMMMM"

BTW .. the correct # for Glock is 770-432-1202 - I think the other number might have been a fax number.

Do the last two letters (US) indicate it was made for the US market?

Wonder who the "importer" was too.

Possibly a 'bite me california' model? The numbers won't match anything to drive them nuts with the 12301e checks.
When did you get it? Israel had their glocks stolen when visiting his royal highness.
Texas gun show mexican trace piece, that came back over the border?
Seedy old 9mm gun porn.

But let us know what you find out, I always have to go for the exotic out of main stream myself.

I am still investigating only because of his comment about it being imported. I thought the only other place the Glock was produced was IN Austria ? If it was " imported " as the Glock armorer said, where the hell would it come from other than Austria ? And if it did in fact come from there, why are the markings absent.

I faxed a formal inquiry to Glock about the firearm, interesting to see if they get back to me.

Will keep you all posted.
