t33j: Thanks for replying. I do remember reading that in the alert, now, lol. When I went this past Wednesday there were no "no fire arms/ no weapons" signs out front. Just a homeland security sign with something like "all packages searched" and no flash photos on an additional sign. That is the only reason my guest and I continued to enter. When we got inside we passed through the detector (no audible sound) and I was immediately greeted by a smiling desk clerk with their policy in hand; and I was asked if I had a weapon. I had informed her that I had a permit and I was carrying concealed. She then asked if I was police and/or military; I said no. She told me I would have to put my weapon in the car. I said, "no thank you, I will not patronize any business that does not support my right to carry a firearm". She then said that I could speak with their security department; at which point I declined. The nice thing is that there was only one or two other cars in their parking lot (probably hers and the security guy) and I'm sure they could use $20. I will not be purchasing any membership either.

Sounds like you handled it the best way it could have been.

There was a letter/email campaign when this first came out via Va-Alert.

It is privately owned but did or had accepted some public funds - not sure what this might mean under the circumstances.
