So I have lived in Nevada a while now. But only now have I been interested in excersizing my OC rights. I have a few basic questions:

Can I carry my pistol loaded? Must the chamber be kept clear? is my revolver considered chambered as long as it is loaded? (No manual safety). I have no interest in holding any body liable - I understand you are not lawyers and that what is said here cannot be taken with the same weight as the NRS laws. I am trying to read as much as I can and understand. I have qualified for my CCW but now just need to register (hopefully monday) to conceal my weopons. In the meantime I was hoping to get ADVICE from those who may already know...

Anybody who can reference NRS is a +.

Yes you can carry loaded, with a round in the chamber in Nevada both semi-automatic and revolvers. Regardless of weather you are driving or on foot. I would love to be able to quote you an NRS but there isn't one. This is precisely why you are allowed to open carry your firearm in any condition you wish. This is a free state within a free country we needn't pass laws telling the People what they can do, only what they cannot do.

The majority of us here on this forum do not oppose concealed carry. Personally I intend to get a CCW so I wont have to worry about covering up when I put on a jacket in the cooler months. what many of us oppose is the requirement to obtain a permit to do something that is a constitutional right, and we oppose the public record of CCW permittees.

Thank you for coming to OCDO and thank you for exercising your rights. As Flagellum says, "carry often, apply sparingly."

Well thank you Nevada Carrier. I will proudly carry my gun in the open then :) An armed society is a polite society.

I think it would be a good thing to do an OC Walk here in the Reno area like I see they do in Vegas... I'm searching through the threads as I get acquanted with this group... Does that already happen in the Reno/Sparks area?

No walks here in Reno as far as I know. There have been trash pickups.

Now that I found out the OC in the Reno city parks is OK, I say we make some sort of BBQ meet-up.

We could make it like a potluck you bring one dish you want to share with everyone and you will bring what kind of meat you want to BBQ.

This way we could keep the cost low for everyone and still have a good time, get family involved and maybe educated people in the park

Welcome to the forum.

Most of the applicable laws can be found here:

We've done a few trash pickups and met to eat at restaurants a few times. Aside from the walking near the river during a trash pickup, one time a few of us did a short walk from a taco bell to a gun store down Moana street and back again! But that was sort of impromptu after we were done eating.

I've walked around down town by myself a few times, but I suppose that doesn't count. I open carry everywhere but work and school.

Where and when? If I'm available (likely), I will be there.

The one problem you have in Reno compared to LV is that there just isn't much of anywhere to walk except between casinos -- where firearms are unwelcome. Maybe some evening soon, we could start at one end of Casino Row, walk to the other and back, handing out pamphlets.

It's your idea, so you are the self-appointed Project Officer. ;)
