FW Court Today

Today I had another speeding ticket dismissed in Federal Way. I arrived and was able to check in my firearm. Allthough, they could not find the "log book". Since I just contacted the City Manager (Brian Wilson) just a month or so ago I found it troubling that they did not really have the policy in place. I have included the video of me checking it in, however it is quite boring.

After court I returned to the police department to pick up my firearm. Note that I had to leave the court and walk outside a 100 yards around the building (unarmed) to pick up my firearm. I find this troubling. Imagine a young 20-something female teacher that had come to court to obtain a restraining order and now you are asking her to parade unarmed back to the other side of the building.

I waited for the officer to return my weapon. Much to my surprise it was unloaded! I had given it to him in my paddle holster with the thumb strap in place. I was then told I couldn't load it in the police lobby, but rather to go outside and load it! What?!! I then said that I wouldn't do that as I believed I would be in violation of the law (9.41.270). I then asked for him to escort me to my vehicle. He thought about it and agreed. There is great video of me loading the firearm in the presence of the officer and then him turning his back on me. (I apologize that the video is from waist level. I didn't think about my outfit for video only for court)

I will be following up with the City Manger, Council, etc...

The government just doesn't want the citizens to have guns. Plain and simple... When this stuff happens, it is as clear as day that we are just a nuisance. That is why it is important that we keep doing it. It must be normalized and popularized once again.

Sorry it's a bit late, but the wife kept me busy in Texas...

WOW. At least the LEO was polite, and understood where you were coming from. That was definitely interesting.

Major facepalm

Did you clean your Sig well after it was molsted? They should be thankful good citizens are out there. Think how outnumbered they would be if we were all disarmed and the thugs ran the streets. I know you will always keep them from taking shortcuts and stepping on our rights. Thanks again Gogo.

Seriously for his own safety and the safety of anyone that comes in contact with him that officer needs more training.

Yes, unfortunately. That officer that escorted you came across as a major novice. Go outside and load your gun? Man..

If I remember correctly, Brian Wilson is actually the FW Chief of Police, not the City Manager. At least according to FW's website.

Just got one in Kirkalnd on I-5 this weekend during the WSP Labor Day cash bonanza.

BTW. Both my buddy and I were OCing in the vehicle. Trooper didn't see the weapons and I wasn't asked about any weapons, we even had a shotgun, AR-15 and 22LR in the back. And no I didn't mention anything about carrying to the trooper.

Labor Day, Memorial Day, New Year's, and St. Patric's Day are all favorite times to see lots of Traffic Officers handing out tickets and still------

sorry about the ticket but with all the advance publicity by all the agencies-------------

Great job. You handled that very well. Polite and to the point.

People ask why you carry, because carrying a handgun is lighter than carrying a police officer. You didn't have to give him a Piggy Back Ride
