The Republicans tied it up enough for the Assembly to pass on it. It never got voted on. They didnt get back to it before the midnight deadline. Chuck DeVore declared it dead.

the Assembly had to vote on it before midnight. The Republicans attacked it on the floor to the point they passed on it to get to other bills. They never got back to it before midnight. therefore the bill is dead. there will be no more vote for the rest of the year. all bills not passed are dead.

Another thread said it passed 20 something to like 16 or 17. Were they wrong? Again who has facts? This seems to me that if it is dead we start making a stand and getting others to support and do open carry.

it passed the Senate and had to go back to the Assembly committee for an amendment vote. Had it passed there, it would go to the Governor. It never got voted on before the midnight deadline for the constitutional end of session. Its a non-budget bill. Therefore all non-budget bills are dead that did not get voted on.

Apparently the Republicans are still good for a few things. If they really wanted to impress me, they would repeal the Mulford Act. Note to Republicans in office: you need to do more than simply stop some of the crap the Democrats try to pass. You have to start rolling back the stuff that actually did pass. We'll never get back to this "small government" ya'll talk about unless you start repealing all of the tyranny piece by piece. Might as well start with that.

Actually it passed an initial vote back in the assembly, but more modifications were needed, and then they ran out of time before the final vote. We just barely snuck a win out on this one!

Wish I would have kept my computer on after the vote. I was so disgusted with everything that I didn't want to read anything about laws or guns (for once). Now I see this and wish I would have stuck around for another hour. Very cool, very cool.

How do they do that? They don't have the votes in either house. Once you go to NH, concentrate on helping the Republicans take back that state. Right now, it's not "Live free or die." It's " the Massholes have taken over." That can change this election in NH. Kalifornia, not going to happen anytime soon.

I have the facts...right here.

Three California gun control bills have died.
AB 1810, the long gun registration bill from Mike Feur (D), AB 1934, the open carry ban from Lori Saldana (D), and AB 2358, the ammunition vendor reporting bill from Kevin DeLeon (D) died last night.
From CRPA News and Updates, via CalGuns:
"All three of these bills posed a fundamental threat to the rights of gun owners. And there was no room for compromise any one of the bills. It was a fight down to midnight, but in the late hours of August 31, AB 1810, AB 1934, and AB 2358 were DEFEATED!

"This is a huge win for gun owners. Thank you to all members who took time to contact members of legislature and voice their strong opposition to these bills. Your collective voice was heard loud and clear at the capitol. You stoked the fire against AB 1810, AB 1934, and AB 2358 and it paid off!"
LA Anti-Establishment Examiner Charles Nichols also credits Republicans Chuck Devore, Steve Knight, Tom Berryhill and Kevin Jeffries for leadership in defeating the bills.
Good work, CA activists and all of the organizations involved, including NRA, CRPA, SAF, GOC, Responsible Citizens of California and the South Bay Open Carry Movement, and anyone I inadvertently omitted.

I just watched the Assembly video. Chuck DeVore's speech has restored hope in me that the Republican party has not lost complete touch with its conservative base. It left a lump in my throat.

But the part that put the biggest smile on my face was when Lori Saldana said, "I believe that motion is out of order." And then Fiona Ma says, "Motion to pass temporarily is in order." The nervous stroking of the papers Saldana has in hand, the confident voice failing, the look on her face...priceless!!!! (3:39:00) Check it out. :D

What!!!! I can't believe it! I'm soooo glad I didn't shoot myself after vote in the Senate!

I spewed coffee all over my monitor when I saw that it failed. I had no clue it was going back to the Assmebly.
Watching the Assmebly video, it was nice to see Lori wandering all around the desk, trying to get someone to bring her bill up for a vote.
