A firearm would be a much better option.

Did anybody else notice that when the BG was confronted he put the handgun in the bag with the money, as opposed to using it to shoot his way to freedom? It's all in the mindset, people - you either are willing to use it or you are just getting aerobic exercise from carrying around a weight.

In this case most folks are thankful that the BG was an exercise freak.
