Having lived in, not just visited, 4 different countries and 3 different states, I can tell you that there is no place I would rather live. Keeping the topic OC related, as an OCer w/ a CPL, Michigan law allows me to exercise my RKBA in more places than just about any other state.
No, it is not perfect, but I think that in comparison to other states in most areas, Michigan has a lot going for it. Yes, economically the auto industry and manufacturing employment is in shambles and as the these sectors fare, so goes the state. But, if you look at the unemployment rate in Michigan for people with college degrees/post-high school training, Michigan compares quite well to most other states. Also, if you consider the gains that have been made in regards to the way the state, both by governmental representatives and the general citizenry, now look at the issue of the RKBA, I see it getting better every day.

This is off topic, but before the lock I must point out that I disagree. Michigan people are some of the hardest working and most devoted to their jobs people in the entire world, which I believe we can credit the auto industry for.

You could call Michigan a failure of free trade. Yes, there are good unions and bad unions in this state, plenty of both, but none can indefinitely keep up with slave labor, or the asinine way that the Fed has manipulated the fiat money supply, nor the way that the federal government wishes to spend us into oblivion. This is the underlying problem here.

Socialist experimentation would better define canadian health care, or perhaps the current administration, and if I recall correctly the Bush administration as well, because as I recall they got behind the "bail outs" as their term was ending.

Answer every question about open carry in Michigan you ever had with one convenient and free book- http://libertyisforeveryone.com/open-carry-resources/

The complete and utter truth can be challenged from every direction and it will always hold up. Accordingly there are few greater displays of illegitimacy than to attempt to impede free thought and communication.

There "bailout" while also stupid, were no where near as bad as bad as what were getting now. The free market is the solution not the problem, can't compete?, go out of business, and someone else will replace you, protectionism does not work, and has never worked, all it does is cause the economy to stagnant. While most of the people in Michigan are indeed good, honest, hard working people, not enough of them vote, and there out numbered by the welfare leeches in Detroit, who without fail always elect left wing lunatics. Want to grow Michigan's economy, make Michigan friendly to business to attract businesses here. One way you do NOT do that is by raising taxes on Business, and mire them in regulations, and red tape, and generally do all you can to keep them out, which is what the current Michigan government is doing, who mainly voted for them?, what cities do the majority of all the votes come from?, what cities in effect get to decide what Michigan's government does?, which cities keep Michigan a blue state?

FYI, the general concensus indicates that the west side and northern MI are the places to be. The east side of the state, well, sucks.

    I agree totally.

But even Rocky, a well known local republican running for office agrees with me that the limit of free trade should be to impose economic sanctions on slave labor. He pretty much stated, and I agree, that the US should completely stop buying Chinese goods until some basic human rights can be brought to the countries workers.

Truth be told, I'd be just fine with getting the entire world economy on even grounds. If everyone would live efficiently, we could live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, on par with every other country in the world. I'd be just fine with my lifestyle evening out with Mexico, China, Brazil and every other country you can name. But ONLY if they treat their workers well, and not as expendable slaves.

I'm all for free trade with all countries that believe in human rights, with alliance and financial help to no one.
