    Scheduled are:

-- A public hearing and vote on an ordinance to match state law regulating firearms. City ordinances prohibit residents from carrying dangerous weapons. Under state law, residents can openly carry firearms under certain circumstances. A public hearing is scheduled but, in this case, the ordinance must reflect state law.

Wow! So, I didn't realize (never looked) that Janesville had an OC ordinance.

Many towns do. Worth checking; many do not even delineate between OC or CC. Many pre-date 66.0409, many exist because people who get voted for to sit on councils don't know the difference between inherent rights and granted rights, as suggested by a Chief of Police. Then again, neither do many who voted for them. Ignorant officeholders are sadly too often a reflection of the electorate.
