Hello all,
I know many of you were involved with a similar situation recently and was hoping someone who took point on that effort could contact me.

We have a similar situation in Manhattan Beach, CA right now.

A fair which is held on public property (though they claim they rent it from the city, I have a PRAR on that pending) is banning all weapons after they heard individuals may attend while open carrying.

I have a summary of the background here: http://www.southbayopencarry.org/

Please pm or email me if you can help us!

Im not sure how much help we can be to you sir, seeing that Im not sure if anyone here is as well versed in the laws of the peoples republic of Kalifornia, as some do about the laws in Michigan.

Look for a preemption law for your state. A law that prohibits local units of government from enacting a law greater than state law. You will need to know the laws of your state, your states constitution regarding firearms, possible case law in your state, and so on.

It appears that CA only preempts the licensing and registration of firearms, whereas MI preempts local units of government from imposing restrictions on the ownership, registration, purchase, sale, transfer, transportation, or possession of pistols or other firearms, ammunition for pistols or other firearms, or components of pistols or other firearms. Therefore, it appears that our brothers and sisters in CA are out of luck.
