More Government Intrusion: Hostile College/University Accreditation to be ripped

I came across this article earlier this week and have been deeply troubled by the implications ever since: Potential Government Takeover of Private Colleges

"Former US Senator Bill Armstrong, now president of Colorado Christian University, warned in a July 30 letter to the US Department of Education that this could mean the all-out politicization of American higher education, endangering academic freedom, due process, and First Amendment rights."​

I concur!

The article does not quote the proposed regulation, just gives conclusions. Personally, until I see the actual proposed regulation, I won't simply take the word of folks with an axe to grind.

I'm not suprised at all. The left will not tolerate educational institutions that provide a means to escape the indoctrination centers they call universities.

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

The proposed rules were published in the Federal Register on June 18, 2010 by the U.S. Department of Education. It's not federal legislation. It's simply "empire-building" on the part of the DOE.

Scroll down to Education Department, where you'll find it hidden under "Program Integrity Issues, 34806-34890 [2010-14107]." But here's the link for your convenience. Just search on "accreditation" after you've pulled up the pdf document.
