I'm fairly shocked at these CC stats! Makes me question the OC stats!

While looking up some stats for another thread, I ran across the following:

Colorado Population - 2006: 4.8 million (interpolated)

CHP Permit Applications - 2006: 6241

Note: The issue rate was 93.9%

Even allowing for 100% of all permit-holders remaining here in the state, for a total of 31,205 permit-holders (they're good for 5 years), that's still just 0.65% of the population at large!

I'd been lead to belief it was upwards of 10% to 20% of the population. But it's just over 1/2 of 1%.

Aside from counting people who show up at OC dinners (not very scientific), do we have any stats on OCers in this state?

Quite a few more now: http://cbi.state.co.us/ic/Stats/2010/August 2010 Firearm Statistics.pdf

It's up to 103,000 -- still a small percentage. I have no idea on OCers -- can't imagine that anyone does.

Thanks for the info and the link - I can use this!

However, I see nothing on the PDF itself which says these stats are limited to Colorado. In fact, the sheer numbers indicate they're for all CBI stats for the month of August, not for Colorado, even for the entire year.
