    (2) (A) It shall be unlawful for any individual knowingly to possess a firearm that has moved in or that otherwise affects interstate or foreign commerce at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone.
    (B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a firearm— (i) on private property not part of school grounds;
    (ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;... snip

    With freedom comes much responsibility. It is for this reason so many are loathe to exercise it.

    Unless you are in the Waterford school district, then you're screwed.

    Federal firearms laws?

    A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

    Oh wait. I guess that isn't federal enough..

    Thanks,
    I had the fed,state and MSP site's all spread out in front of me and went over and over the laws. I wanted to see all the details at one time to make sure no wording could get me in trouble. Like instad of saying CPL it would read CCW in witch I dont have CCW. I know some of you have carried on school grounds I have not yet. This OC thing is very new to people here and this will be a big deal in my small town when people see or hear about it. I'm wondering if I should call the Allegan county sheriff and the local home town cop shop to see if there up on the laws or not. I will have my 3 and 8 year old with me and wouold not like to go to jail that night or have a bad interaction with them watching.

    I'm wondering this myself. I'm going to OC at the Swartz creek game on Friday & I'm wondering what is making Waterford different from the Creek.

    I'm guessing that is where he was OCing when he was arrested...
    Someone who can't be trusted to walk free in public with a firearm shouldn't be walking around free.

    I wasn't arrested. It wasn't even in Waterford. As far as I know, they don't arrest people for civil infractions.
    I'll start a new thread so this one stays on topic.
