Left Hand Canyon free outdoor range

Hey guys. New here, but not to shooting. Does anyone have any information regarding the rumored closing of the Left Hand Canyon shooting bluff near Boulder? I had heard that it was closed again, much to my chagrin, as there are few other places I can go to shoot my pistol without paying those pesky range fees. Any info would be appreciated.

no idea, I know there is a free range near blackhawk if you want a very pretty place with a mountain backdrop to shoot at.

Blackhawks shoot area

Do you have a lat long for this place near blackhawk?Or any other close to Denver...I am new here and really don't want to join a range when nature provided all you need.

This question has surfaced often enough that perhaps someone with more savvy than I should develop an app similar to friendorfo.com.

From Boulder, take Broadway north. Turn west onto Lee Hill Dr. Stay straight as it turns into Olde Stage Road. Turn west onto Lefthand canyon dr. Take that for 2 miles and there will be tons of cars parked together. Walk 100 yards up the little path that has bullet shells everywhere.

Its not a "range" as much as it is just a very popular shooting place with a great back stop.

Interesting. Im going to research that some more. Ive shot there 3 times in the last week and a half. Each time I go there are at least 5 other people shooting there. Most I have seen is about 20 people shooting there at one time.

After doing some researching, it seems the spot is closed on paper, but very far from being actually closed.
