Mike did a little comparison of gun laws amongst the states a few years ago (2-3?). Turns out VA is by no means lax. In fact, it had the six toughest gun laws in the nation.

Maybe Mike can link us back to that old OCDO post/press-release.

Virginia should require purchasers to obtain permits to buy handguns and allow local police the option to deny concealed-carry permits on a case-by-case basis, as about half the states do now.

How about this:

Washington should require publishers to obtain permits to print newspapers and allow local police the option to deny journalists publishing permits on a case-by-case basis.

How would WaPo like that?

There should be a requirement that articles like this one are accompanied by an analysis of why the neighboring states have more crime problems than the states with 'lax' gun laws do.

Or at least require that the relative crime stats are published so the public can be informed as to which option works best.

The WaPo Opinion Desk is full of kool-aid drinking, freedom hating nanny staters. They will not be pesrsuaded by fact or reason. They site a fatally flawed report from other kool-aid drinking, freedom hating nanny staters. Pity them. They have accepted, and even embrace, their tyranny.

We own guns in Virginia, at least in part, to ensure that their hellish vision of America does not cross the Potomac without a fight.

Say what? Half the states have now become "may issue?" I guess facts aren't that important when you've got an agenda to sell.
