I'm coming to Spokane tomorrow (Monday afternoon) and spending the night. Anyone know a very inexpensive motel to stay overnight that is close to East Appleway, close to South University Rd?

I'm taking a class at the sheriff's training center there on Tuesday.

I'm not usually a "Motel 6" person, but I've had really good stays at Motel 6 Spokane East ‎- 1919 N Hutchinson Road, Spokane, WA‎ - (509) 926-5399‎ - 1.7 mi NW of the intersection you named. There's a Perkins close by, and a Safeway, etc...

Yeah, easy to get to, also - a couple blocks the other side of I-90, just west of Argonne. Sign is really easy to spot. When I've stayed there it was plain, but clean and well maintained, and QUIET. :)
