Re: Help needed now to defeat Congressman Heath Shuler
Early voting began today in North Carolina. Both GRNC and the GRNC Political Victory Fund are busy sending voter guides, postcard election alerts into selected districts, preparing radio spots and generally ensuring that gun owners get a voice in what may be the most important election in a generation or more. To that end, GRNC is endeavoring to distribute **110,000** "Remember in November" voter guides across the state via gun shops, gun clubs, gun shows, volunteers, and even mailing **75,000** directly to gun-owning voters.
The GRNC Political Victory Fund, GRNC's registered political action committee, is targeting no less than **15 districts** - including one congressional district - in its effort to elect pro-gun legislators. This is more than we have ever tackled in a single election.
Many of you have responded to our appeals by sending generous donations, which we have sought to put to effective, efficient use. Your donations are funding postcard election alerts to tens of thousands of gun-owning voters in 15 districts. In the district of Rep. HUGH HOLLIMAN - who killed GRNC's "Castle Doctrine" bill, your dollars are funding radio spots which begin next week. Others of you are helping put together postcard mailings in districts where GRNC can have a measurable impact on results.
STOP HEATH SHULER NOW!
But we need more. Specifically, we need to run radio spots against Democrat Heath Shuler (GRNC 0-star) - and FOR JEFF MILLER -- in the 11th Congressional District. Shuler brokered House passage of the misnamed DISCLOSE ACT - legislation that would require gun orgs like GOA and GRNC to REPORT MEMBERSHIP LISTS to the federal government if we so much as MENTION a candidate prior to an election.
NRA IS DEAD WRONG
But, you ask, isn't the NRA endorsing Shuler? Leaving aside, for a moment, the many shortcomings of NRA ratings and endorsements, on this the NRA is dead wrong. They are endorsing him because he exempted the NRA - AND ONLY THE NRA - from the unconstitutional free speech restrictions of the bill. As far as Shuler (and the NRA) are concerned, other gun groups can hang.
We can target Shuler additional districts - and elect more pro-gun legislators - but we need your help.
