In Kentucky, it's still considered openly carried if it's in the glove box. Given that your wife is with you, it's not a good idea for it to be on the seat since she'd either be sitting on it, or it would be sitting on her lap (might be considered brandishing). :p

I'd say glove box is best. Hope your trip goes well!
