"***OFF-CAMPUS ARMED ROBBERY*** On Monday, October 25, 2010, at approximately 7:30 PM, a male student reported that he was robbed at gunpoint while walking on 6th Street near Forrest Hills Drive. The suspect was described as a black male, age 18-20, about 5’08 to 5’10, light facial hair, medium length puffy hair, wearing green hoodie and blue jeans. The suspect was armed with a silver and black colored handgun. The suspect left on foot heading north toward 5th Street. The victim did not require any medical attention. The Greenville Police Department is investigating this case. If anyone has information about this or other crimes, please contact the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4315. Students, staff and faculty are encourage to walk in groups at night, use safe modes of transportation and be aware of their surroundings at all times."

Just one more reason why I open carry. It's scary how close this was to campus. This didn't happen after midnight either! I feel defenseless on campus; my fists are no match for a handgun. We need to change this absurd state law now! CC/OC on campus works in Utah!

Actually, after further investigation the GPD has decided this did NOT occur on 6th St near the school, but rather on the other side of town, in an apartment on University Suites Drive:

http://www.witn.com/crime/headlines...ts_Robbery_At_Gunpoint_Tonight_105739368.html

Apparently, the apartment renters were in their apartment, and 3 gunmen kicked in the door, ordered the occupants on the floor, and then ransacked the apartment looking for money and marijuana.

No shots were fired, and no injuries occurred.

After they left, one the renters called the cops, but one of the renters had already called the cops to put in this false report about being mugged on 6th St...

HOWEVER, over at the Landing Apartments on Executive Drive, a VERY similar incident occurred that same night. Four gunmen kicked in the door to an apartment, but the occupants were not home. The occupants came home to find the gunmen ransacking the apartment, and the gunmen ordered the occupants inside. One of the occupants tried to flee, and one of the BGs fired a shot.

No one was injured, but the BGs took money and electronics.

The police believe this home invasion was also drug-related...

This is one of the main reasons why we're having so many problems in Greenville. The college students are buying their pot from local distributors, rather than like it was back in the "good old days", when the only reliable dealers on a campus were other students.

When you have to go off campus into dicey areas of town for some grass, and when you have the local thug-life dealers making deliveries to your apartment, it's BOUND to lead to this sort of situation...

If they would just buy their weed from someone on-campus, a LOT of these problems would go away. ;)

Very interesting about the raids by the BGs.

Yes, you are correct about getting the grass from someone more reputable. Never ever take a home delivery, because you have to know that there was someone following the dealer.

Stay safe!
