I won't need to carry at the polls, the polling place is in view of our house. My wife will be on the roof with my sniper rifle, keeping me covered.

Discretion being the better part of valor, I think it is a REALLY BAD IDEA to do that. If OC is about protecting yourself, I can't ever think of anyone being robbed or murdered while voting in California during recent history. This is not Alabama of 50 years ago. I just can't think of any positive publicity that could come of it, but see how it could be easily negatively interpreted as voter intimidation/tampering.

Of course there is always the argument that we are trying to make gun ownership/carry part of everyday life again.

Just sayin.

Chewy ,I got it...... but I think a majority of neutral fence sitters would think that OC'ing while others are voting is over the top and provocative. Bringing a gun to a polling place is like bring a gun to the state capitol to watch the legislators vote. We all know how badly that turned out for the rest of us, thanks to the Black Panthers.

I'll be watching the news looking for you. LoL

It prob depends on the place. Some are at schools and near schools. I would like to see the law wether people think it's right or not is it leagle?

Good point, my polling place is at a community cent and not near a school, are there any rules that specify polling centers as gun free zones?

I was tempted to head over to the placer fairgrounds UOC, but there is a school across the street and I don't feel like carrying a lock box. Plus I will be walking and its at least a half mile from my house(don't want to make two trips).

Are you kidding?

RockerFor2A,

ERic Holder may let a Black Panther thump a club in front of a polling place and not charge him with voter intimidation. Do you really think our "fair minded" Attorney General would not waste a second and have some white bread OC'ing a gun around a polling place arrested on a (any)Federal charge?

I was joking. I agree with you and that's my point. There's unequal justice these days. You know it and I know it.

Carrying a firearm at a polling place is unlawful in California.

CA Elections Code

peace officer, private guard, or security personnel or any person who
is wearing a uniform of a peace officer, guard, or security
personnel, who is stationed in the immediate vicinity of, or posted
at, a polling place without written authorization of the appropriate
city or county elections official is punishable by a fine not
exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), by imprisonment in the
state prison for 16 months or two or three years or in a county jail
not exceeding one year, or by both the fine and imprisonment.
(b) This section shall not apply to any of the following:
(1) An unarmed uniformed guard or security personnel who is at the
polling place to cast his or her vote.
(2) A peace officer who is conducting official business in the
course of his or her public employment or who is at the polling place
to cast his or her vote.
(3) A private guard or security personnel hired or arranged for by
a city or county elections official.
(4) A private guard or security personnel hired or arranged for by
the owner or manager of the facility or property in which the
polling place is located if the guard or security personnel is not
hired or arranged solely for the day on which an election is held.

How'd you do it? Is there a CCW exception saying this code doesn't apply?

ETA:

I'm sure you catch some flak for OC'ing depending on where you are. Some counties/polling places may not care, while others would rather see you in jail for exercising ones constitutional rights then let you carry a firearm while voting(or doing anything for that matter)
