Hello everybody, I am new to OC. I bought a handgun for protection and I was just wondering if its lawful to OC near a college? There is four colleges surrounding my house and I would like to know if its legal to OC while I take my dog for walks in these areas? Any input will be greatly apreciated...

colleges are not part of the "gun free school zone" if that is what you are asking. So you can certainly go "near" campus (assuming you aren't in a gun free school zone due to grade 1 - 12 school nearby.

I'm not sure about "on" campus.

A private college would be private property, so they have the ability to restrict carry on their property, but not 'near' their property.

A state college, I believe there is an administrative code that prohibits carry on a UW campus, but I don't have it handy to cite. Once again, that would only apply ON campus not "near" campus.

UW system "POLICY" prohibits firearms on campus. I don't know if they can actually do any more than just escort you off campus but I'm sure someone on here will have the certified answer to that.

Just to be clear, a public sidewalk passing in front of or along side a campus is not part of the campus, it's public property.
