What will WAVE's strategy be?

WAVE is the only Wisconsin anti-gun specific organization, but they have gotten other organizations to buy into their lies to lobby against constitutional firearm rights. Their leading "partner" is the Wisconsin Police Chiefs Association. Where does your local police chief stand on the issue? The police chiefs will be doing a lot of talking about the need rigid requirements for the sake of "officer safety", even though farming is a more dangerous occupation than police work.

WAVE will also get the anti-domestic violence organizations involved on their behalf, even though anyone under a DV restraining order cannot legally have a firearm.

http://www.womenslaw.org/laws_state_type.php?id=609&state_code=WI

WAVE will bring up the issue of suicide by gun, even though relevant studies indicates that firearm availability measures are significantly and positively associated with rates of firearm suicide, but have no significant association with rates of total suicide.

http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcgvsuic.html

WAVE will have relatives and friends of gun homicides testify with heart breaking stories. What they won't tell you is how many of these homicides are gang related.

http://www.nationalgangcenter.gov/Gang-Related-News?st=WI&p=7

The pro-gun community is up against the Joyce Foundation (WAVE being its Wisconsin operating division) which wants to bring Chicago style gun laws to Wisconsin. It has virtually unlimited resources to spend on anti-firearm efforts and has done so. WAVE will have "experts" presenting "research." But it will be poisonous fruits from Joyce foundation branches.

Merger Will Better Coordinate and Leverage Resources to Advance Life-Saving State Agendas
(Chicago) – Two gun violence prevention organizations, Freedom States Alliance and States United to Prevent Gun Violence are joining forces to strengthen state-level advocacy efforts to save lives.

Freedom States Alliance (FSA) will merge with States United to Prevent Gun Violence (SUPGV) and assume the States United to Prevent Gun Violence name effective immediately.

The mission of the organization, SUPGV, is to support existing state-based gun violence prevention organizations and to expand the network of groups working to reduce gun violence throughout the United States.

The merger will maximize resources and allow for better coordination to reduce the devastating toll from gun-related deaths and injuries. Each year, guns kill over 30,000 people in the United States. Another 80,000 people are shot and injured, leaving physical and emotional scars that last for years.

“Despite the tragic and ongoing epidemic of gun violence in this country, policymakers remain unwilling to take any meaningful action to address this urgent public safety issue,” said Sally Slovenski, executive director of States United to Prevent Gun Violence. “We believe that aligning our efforts through the merger will increase opportunities for the sharing of resources and replication of successful strategies for state groups. This will in turn provide greater opportunities for progress on this issue in state houses across the country.”

For example, the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort (WAVE) recently launched a 450 mile tour with a display of 450 shirts, representing the victims of gun violence in Wisconsin in one year, to raise awareness and engage the public in their work to prevent gun violence. Additionally, Ceasefire New Jersey mobilized to help pass a one-gun-a-month law in New Jersey. “These success stories are great examples of the kind of results and replication of model programs we anticipate” Slovenski continued.

“We are coming together in a more coordinated way to leverage resources and better coordinate our efforts,” said Barbara Hohlt, the new interim board chair for SUPGV. “Individual state groups urgently need added resources and tools to advance their life-saving agenda. This is exactly the kind of support SUPGV can provide.”

Founded by the Freedom States Alliance

The Freedom States Alliance is changing the way America thinks about guns in order to build and mobilize a grassroots movement. By raising money, organizing supporters, and sponsoring Internet and public education campaigns on behalf of gun violence prevention organizations, the Freedom States Alliance is reframing and redefining public perceptions of the gun issue.

Building a true grassroots movement is the only way the Freedom States Alliance can channel money and resources directly to advocates working in the trenches to turn the tide of the gun violence epidemic. Our new grassroots approach includes creative and aggressive outreach, local and statewide media campaigns, and utilizing the Internet to organize supporters and to raise financial support.

Changing the Way Americans Think About Guns
Before America can enact significant policies to reduce gun violence we must challenge the belief that our citizens are safe in a country flooded with deadly guns; from junk handguns and cop-killing assault weapons to deadly sniper rifles and weapons designed for the battlefield. We have to engage in a dialog about whether Americans can be truly free when gun violence terrorizes our communities, destroys our families, and plagues our nation.

(emphasis added)

In other words, they want to make you afraid. Once you're afraid you'll be willing to support their anti-gun legislation, because they'll sell it to you as a way to make you safe.

Right out of the Neo-conservative playbook. TERR-AH TERR-AH TERR-AH. You better be scared from this EVIL MENNANCE that only we can protect you from!

WAVE false-flag or spoofing divide and compromise.

Is there objective evidence that WAVE is Wisconsin's only anti-gun specific organization? It is really difficult to prove an negative.

As to their strategy, why does no one suspect false-flag and spoofing as a pro-gun control compromiser? Divide and conquer works against any unprincipled corporate entity. That means that D&C works against you and I if we don't have reliable principles that we hold above popularity.

Exactly, like planting a disruptor in the forum. Let us hope it is now over and we can move on.

Further, does the false-flag organization have to be from Wisconsin? Remember, it ain't about gun-control, be it from the right or left, but it is about control.

Control
The left wants to ban our guns
The right wants to require permits
Some of us want the right to chose how and where we carry without government permission
Any way you slice it at the end of the day we want to control something

A minority can make a big stink. The left controls the mainstream press in the biggest WI cities, and will be quoting gun control advocates on the usual "rivers of blood", "old west gunfights", "who'll protect the children" crapola. Not to mention "statistics" that have been stretched like taffy or even just made up and announced as fact.

Our best bet is to simply keep calm and refute these allegations, or better yet, be proactive by writing letters to the editor about oc/cc before they happen.

Remember, in the end, the politicians are there for their job, and it wouldn't be inconcievable that even the republicans might not throw a bone in a gun bill for the lefties that is unacceptable to us, such as that stupid school bus rule on the last PPA attempt.

I think it would be great if we could get 3 times the amount of organizations supporting us with 3 times the financial support. It is a long road, but I don't think that is impossible either.

WAVE consists of a very small number of well-funded people who can give the impression that they have a louder voice than they actually have.

As part of my "know thy enemy" approach I received the follow email from them today:

Dear Friends:

Our new governor and legislature haven't even taken office yet, and they're already signaling that they have every intention of making it easier for more people to carry guns in more places

. Good grief!

It's not going to be easy, but we're ready to do everything we can to prevent them from doing this to our state. Are you with us?

To make sure we are representing the views of our supporters and friends, we would like your feedback. Please take just one minute to fill out this 4-question survey

.

We really appreciate your help!

The WAVE strategy is NO debate, NO truth, just there "pre-existing world view."

An individual "liked" them on face book and asked a direct question about how (weapon aside) they were addressing the root cause of violence.

The question was DELETED, and the individual "un-liked."

They KNOW they have lost the debate.

How many lies per dollar?

Yes, but with a quarter mil a year from the Joyce foundation they can afford to keep trying to spread the love…

So, how many volunteers does it take to counteract the noise (FUD?) generated by $250,000?
Answer: All of 'em.

Sounds like the ICHV and every other anti group. They don't have the guts to tackle the real issues: fatherless children, entitlement mentalities, glorification of the thug culture, etc.

Their next strategy will probably be to create a tsunami wave of support to crush our initiative in the legislature.

We need to get as many businesses as we can to donate to our cause. For as many as Wave has think of how many are not listed as their supporters. Maybe those who are not listed are on our side!

If we as an alliance can round up three times the support that WAVE has, we would virtually create a levy that could hold back WAVE through any storm we weather.

Once everything is in place with this alliance that is building, it would merely take volunteers to solicit the support of Businesses and people throughout Wisconsin. Again, strength is in the numbers and dollar sign numbers speak in volumes.

Now I am not trying to speak for WCI or any other of the pro gun organizations but in my honest opinion this needs to be one of our highest initiatives.

It would take volunteers contacting businesses and then following up with sending out donation envelopes with forms stating how much the individual or business is committed to donating to the cause. Then the volunteers would follow up with a thank you call for those donations that come in or a friendly reminder call if the donations have not been received in order to confirm the support of the individual or business.
Also these businesses and individuals do not necessarily have to be in Wisconsin. How about soliciting the S&W Corporation for example?

This is not a crazy idea. It is the same tactic used by WAVE, the Disabled Veterans of America, the Policemen's Benevolent Society and many more.

If we already have a head start on creating our voice, we should also be creating our bank account. Money talks, especially in the legislature.
