Hi this is my first post here, and first time on the site. I am a current CCW holder from Utah and I am taking a quick trip to Vegas this weekend. I tried looking up info regarding this but is Nevada an open carry state for non residents? I don't like the idea of having to disarm for the day I am there. If anyone has any helpful info that would be great!

Thanks
JC

Yes, anyone that can legally own a handgun can open carry a loaded firearm.

If you search around you can find just about all the info you'll need.

Sorry I'm not the most computer savy person, I rarely use the internet. My only concern I guess is there a retention level requirement for the holster, and what constitutes open, is an in the waistband but exposed ok? Sorry again

OC in NV is defacto: There is no law against OC, therefore OC is legal. No law addresses retention level, unloaded vs loaded, etc, etc. So, we can deduce, it's not illegal to OC a handgun loaded in an open top holster. It's also not illegal to OC a unloaded pistol in a level III Blackhawk. Choose your method and have a good day.

There is a law, however, stating you must have a permit to CC, which is defined as "carried upon a person in such a manner as not to be discernible by ordinary observation." Some will make the arguement that IWB with an exposed grip is concealed. I say it's enough of a grey area that I wouldn't do it without a permit recognized by NV. If you OC, use a full OWB holster, tuck your jacket behind the grip and make sure it's fully unconcealed.

NV is an open carry state for anyone but I'd go to www.handgunlaw.us and the LV Metro web site so you know where you cannot carry. Please leave all your money in Las Vegas-they need it.

Some of the NV guys will check in. By the way welcome to OCDO

Like the person who started this thread, I am going to Vegas next week to spend time with family but don't want to leave my firearm at home (I live in Colorado). Colorado CCW doesn't extent to NV, so in order for me to carry I in public I will have to open carry is that right? What places are off limits?

Went Unmolested

Just got here this evening on business and strapped up in the cab on the way to being dropped off at Caesar's.

Spent the whole evening in Caesar's Forum, ate dinner at Cheesecake Factory, and finished out at the Casa Fuente Cigar Bar, then walked around casino floor for several minutes. Lots of people noticing, but mostly tourists. Walked by several security guards but they didn't seem to notice.

Spoke to Manager Mario at Casa Fuente and he says carriers are welcome.

The pamphlet is a great resource as are all of you.
Thanks,
Renato from California.

I work at Caesars, and many of our security guards believe it is against the law to carry into a casino. They refuse to accept that it is not when I explain it to them. I'm surprised you didn't get tossed, but glad that you didn't as well. I guarantee that if you sat down at a table to gamble or at a bar to drink, you would be noticed and asked to leave or check your firearm. But if I were dealing to you, I wouldn't say a word.

Don't go into the Monte Carlo either. We got tossed out of there pretty quick on New Years day.

But we had no prob. in Cosmo or The Aria. Which kinda surprises me sense The Aria and MC are sister property's.

Both are owned by MGM which has a NO GUNS corporate policy. As does Ceasers/Harrahs. Sometimes they just "don't notice." Other times you may be asked to leave. I choose to carry concealed in the tourist areas almost all of the time.
