I live in TX and I signed up for what is effectively legal insurance if I should ever need to use my firearm in self defense. Check out TexasLawShield.com. It costs $89/year without a CC license and about $130 with a CC license. It covers me in almost all cases where I had a legal reason to use my firearm. They only cover in Texas but will find a lawyer if I'm out of state. For all practical purposes this is a retainer to the law firm.
If one has to use your firearm, it could cost you as much as $100K even if you're no billed in legal fees and this is all covered.
Does anyone know of a similar type of coverage in NC?
