Their magic GFSZ forcefield was broken. Seriously though, we should really be looking to the quality of education at this particular school as it appears that at 15 years old, he could not read the signs that say "no guns." He clearly could not read the part of the owners manual that instructs the user to always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction, had he been able to read, he would have known better than to point that gun at himself.
