Pistol Question

Hello, I am new to the forum and actually did not know that NC was an OC state until today. I am in the Morganton area. I have been doing a lot of reading on this site and have found it extremely helpful to almost all of my questions. (Hopefully I am in the right section to be posting this thread)

I do however have a question that I have not found an answer to, yet and was hoping someone could help me.

I used to live in Texas and when I was there I bought a pistol off of my step-uncle. I have read on here about having to have a purchase permit? and was wondering what would happen if I was OC'ing and a LEO ran the serial on my pistol? Do I need to do something in NC to register it or something like that?

Thank you for your help.

If you legally own the pistol in another state before you become a NC resident, and relocate to NC, the gun is ALREADY legally yours, and therefore you do not need a PPP.

The Pistol Purchase Permit will only be required for any handguns you purchase in NC AFTER you become a NC resident.
