Here's some interesting info about the officers involved. It's probably posted in the original thread on our forum but buried in the 11 or so pages..

"I obtained after posting today’s earlier report alleging the deputy responding to the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry incident also works part time at the ferry as a security guard employed by Securigard, the private contractor retained by VDOT, that he is one of two deputies employed there, and that both responded to the call. My information says the guard who initiated the incident is no longer employed there, but that he “was very abrasive to the traveling public,” lending credence to Henick’s claim of wanting to complain to the supervisor."

    Conflict of interest?

    Under the bus with you!

Edit: Sorry, I was channeling the spirit of whoever performed a too-little, too-late by firing that security guard.

    Why open carry? Because 1911 > 911.

When in danger you can dial 911 and hope for the police to arrive a few minutes later armed with guns.
    Why do police carry guns?

As a defensive tool, the value of a recorder as no equal except that of your handgun - it has become that important! The two should be joined at the hip. <pun intended>

Just don't brandish the recorder. Some will perceive it as a threat.

LOL! When we had our 'incident' in Madison, I actually held my 'recorder' in my hand and the cop said 'I see you are recording this' and I said 'yep!'

A simple case of "Contempt of Rent-a-Cop" that turned into "Contermpt of cop by Proxy"

Just remember guys, the guys that could not pass the psych exam for a police department (if they even use them) typically turn up working for private security companies.

Anyone that has a smart phone already has a voice recorder. Voice recorders are so cheap. It is my understanding that these police interactions were not recorded?

The support and standing up with a brother is greatly appreciated by all, especially Skidmark. The outpouring has been more than a little overwhelming to him.

We are counting down the days until "round 2" - January 4th.
