The wife and I are taking a trip from the OC friendly state of KY to ME. We will be staying in the Bridgeton area. I was hoping to get a quick run-down of carry policies in ME. I have been OC'ing for over 4 years now so I am familiar with how to act, just needing a few pointers (and references to law) to keep me out of trouble. The big things that I am concerned about are 1) how to transport in a vehicle, 2)the finer points of restaurant carry (alcohol?), 3) Open public areas (city parks, rest areas, etc.), 4) any regulations that apply specifically to OC that don't apply to those with a permit or vice versa, and 5) any restrictions that are placed on non-residents. My main goals are to limit unpleasant interaction with LEOs, and not walk into a situation that might result in my detainment/arrest.
Since ME doesn't recognize my KY CCDW, I will be pursuing a ME Non-Resident permit. The whole reason I obtained my KY CCDW was a CYA move, and that's the same reason I will be going after the ME one. I'm sure there's got to be someone on here that has one for the same reason. How hard are these to obtain? I have a clean background save for a few traffic offenses and have a squeaky-clean DD-214. I know that this in an OC forum, etc. but I figure if there's a place to find folks familiar with firearms law, this would be it.
Thanks for the help!
