Atlanta Submits to Georgia Law Concerning Firearms in Airports

Mayor Kasim Reed, of Atlanta Georgia, has Announced that His City will now Honor Georgia Weapons Carry Licensees to Carry, Openly or Concealed, Weapons or LongGuns on HartsField-Jackson International Airport Property!

College Carry Map

The map shows Iowa as carry not statutorily prohibited. This is not true.

724.4B Carrying weapons on school grounds ‐‐ penalty ‐‐ exceptions.
1. A person who goes armed with, carries, or transports a firearm of any kind, whether
concealed or not, on the grounds of a school commits a class "D" felony. For the purposes of this
section, "school" means a public or nonpublic school as defined in section 280.2.
2. Subsection 1 does not apply to the following:
a. A person listed under section 724.4, subsection 4, paragraphs "b" through "f" or "j".
b. A person who has been specifically authorized by the school to go armed, carry, or transport a
firearm on the school grounds, including for purposes of conducting an instructional program
regarding firearms.

280.2 DEFINITIONS.
The term "public school" means any school directly supported
in whole or in part by taxation. The term "nonpublic school"
means any other school which is accredited pursuant to section
256.11.

I wish it were otherwise, and am working with others to make it so, but it is not true yet. Carrying on a college campus is Iowa is a felony.

Georgia has a Firearm-related Code, similiar to Alabama Codes 1975 11-45-1.1 AND 11-80-11, that Substansially Preempts and Precludes Atlanta's Ability to Regualte Firearms.

The Georgia Code Referenced is Georgia Code 16-11-173.

Georgia Code 16-11-126(g) Allows Firearms in: '..., Public Transportation Terminals...'.

Georgia Codes 16-11-126(g) AND 16-11-173 Preempt and Preclude The City of Atlanta from Enforceing anything other than State Law on the Issue of Firearms.

Atlanta's Fomer Mayor Sherly Franklin DID NOT like House Bill 89, BUT She too, fell 'by-the-wayside'.

Mayor Kasim Reed does NOT like Georgia Law, on many Aspects, as MANY other Urban Areas of this State DO NOT, BUT Georgia Law always comes before Urban Interests.

Hopefully, Hartsfield will be put under State-Control, as, there WAS a Bill Filed last Year in The Georgia General Assembly that would have taken Hartsfield from The City of Atlanta.
