Predictions for2A in Kalifornia with Moonbeam, A.G. Harris, and a neo-Marxist legisl

Hello All,

I am not good with predictions, so I believe our state government will act in one of two ways; and I don't know which way it will go.

I believe:

1) The San Franicisco and Oakland Dems who now populate Sacramento will go all-out and bankrupt the state while curtailing civil liberties including 2A at a break-neck pace (I mean Chapter 7 type bankruptcy; not what we have now).

OR,

2) Moonbeam will moderate his views because the reality of our collective situaion is clear and very dire. He has no higher office to run for and he does not need the Democrat machine anymore. He will do some good things by standing-up to the legislature and demand budget cuts. He will de-certify some gubmint unions. He will not allow any laws to pass that restrict civil liberties (like Saldana's bill) while the Legislature is recklessly spending our grandchildern's money.

On second thought, I need to move to Michigan--WE ARE SO SCREWED!

Will the last legal and sane Kalifornia resident who leaves this once great state, please turn out the lights!

Unfortunately I think #1 is more likely.

He said today that he wanted to get rid of prop 13 because it was the root of all our budget problems...

That does not sound like someone who is going to cut spending or unions to me...

CA does not have a revenue problem, its got a spending problem.

Great. Typical big government democrat. Makes me sick. Kiss off any sort of recovery in housing.

I got in an argument with a friend because he sent me something that said "tax cuts increase the deficit." I responded that even if you forget the fact that lowering taxes actually stimulates growth and investment thus increasing revenues, this is backward thinking. As you said, SPENDING increases deficits.

Brown is in the back pocket of organized labor anyway. I doubt he will do anything about public employees unions raiding the treasury with ridiculous pension benefits, etc. Besides... He has the legislature to contend with anyway.

Relevance to OC is that Jerry Brown and his progressive-socialist-statist ilk now have nothing in the branches of. CA government to stop them. Somehow JB got an endorsement as a pro-2A candidate. The whole idea was that if 2A supporters (like some of us) cast our ballot for him we would somehow be "turning the tide" for RKBA here.

Sadly, this is just going to be the cycle of destruction repeating. The reality is now it's not just the RKBA in CA at stake -- its everything. Our legislature is turning against the people. Our judges are legislating from the bench, and now our "new" governor wants to continue the plans which brought us down this path.

But I digress. We may get "shall issue" CCW which will appease few. But if a bill to completely ban OC comes to his desk he will undoubtedly sign it. Then will begin the long, ardous process of having it challenged all the way up to the supreme court. If, and only if, the right groups work to fight it. But then they have to weigh the costs when shall-issue ccw is in effect.

This year sealed the deal. CA's government is going deeper into the abyss and dragging the people with. The majority of the nation is turning the other way.

Relevance to OC?

Thanks demnogis,

I think it is human nature to "wish" for a hale-mary or divine intervention to change the actions of freedom's enemies. It is a psychological disorder if this feeling lasts for more than a minute. Rationalization and projection can be a serious problem. People who believe in and voted for Democrats who supposedly support RKBA are rationalizers and projectionists. Libertarians and some Republicans are our only logical choices for RKBA.

This thread is relevent to RKBA because Kalifornia's mess is wrapped-up in one package--the progressive Democrat party that controls this state.

(Note: Progressive is the term used by Marx to describe Marxists. Marx did not coin the term Marxist. Neo-Marxism is alive and well in Kalifornia! If you doubt me, read and cogitate on "The Road to Serfdom" and "Atlas Shrugged").

Confiscatory taxation of private property is tanamount to abolition of a civil right.

I agree Hgreen,

The right to self defense and private property are the most important of civil liberties. Without private property, 4A is useless. Unregulated taxation of private property will destroy this civil liberty; and once gubmint becomes your landlord, a search warrant is no longer needed. This is the beginning of "The Road to Serfdom."

I don't see Brown vetoing any of his own party's bills passed in the legislature.
I don't see Brown reducing taxes.
I don't see Brown reducing the social welfare spending.
I don't see Brown reducing government jobs.
I don't see Brown reducing the size of government.
I don't see Brown renegotiating government union job costs.
I don't see Brown improving the conditions & costs for free enterprise business growth.
...and I could go on.

More importantly I don't see Brown reigning in the legislature from their extreme progressive agenda...who he has to convince to pass these much needed measures.

As far as RKBA, OC, and CCW...the only changes, good or bad, will come from the courts, while the legislature continues to create more unconstitutional laws.

I might be missing something here, so I figured I might as well ask:

With Jerry Brown in office, IS he actually Pro-2A or is he not? I haven't been following what's going on with him...can I have this clarified, please? Thanks all!

Bud

Depends what your definition of "Pro-2A" is...

Is he going to actively seek legislation that will advance 2A rights in CA? Is he going to actively try to repeal existing anti-2A laws?
- EXTREMELY UNLIKELY

Will he veto an anti-2A law if it comes across his desk?
- MAYBE, definitely not a sure thing.

In my opinion he is certainly not in the "Pro-2A" column.

Is he going to actively seek legislation to restrict 2A rights?
- PROBABLY not. He's got bigger problems to spend his personal staff time on, however, your legislators seem to not have or not care about the other problems (budget, etc..).

I'm talking about whether he's going to actually make things better for us. I'm all for being "shall-issue", and was wondering if he'd be willing to make the whole state as a "shall-issue" state. Granted, we're going to have problems from the opposers of it, but who knows...might actually happen!
