Still think Obama is soft on overhauling gun rights? If so, then why is he choosing William Daley, brother Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, both of whom are staunchly against citizens owning, much less carrying, firearms in accordance with our 2A rights?

William Daley's background:

- Daley, 62, has spent decades quietly but successfully maneuvering the political landscape. While his brother, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, focused on local issues, William Daley has had one foot in Chicago and one in Washington.

- With his ties to his family's powerful political dynasty, Daley would likely bring a broader public profile to the chief of staff job than the privacy-seeking Rouse. His appointment would also bring an outside voice into Obama's circle, and give the impression that Obama is willing to make changes following Democrats' sweeping defeats in the midterm elections.

- Daley made his name in politics as a special counsel to then-President Bill Clinton, coordinating the successful campaign to pass the North American Free Trade Agreement and then serving as Clinton's commerce secretary.

- Daley went into business after that race, and is now Midwest chairman of JPMorgan Chase.

- After Obama's victory, Daley helped oversee the presidential transition.

- Insiders say the adminstration hopes Daley can help repair Obama's relationship with the business community and act as a liaison to Wall Street.

- But Daley is a power player with humility, with a reluctance to grandstand so appealing that even his opponents praise him.

- According to this article, William Daley met with his brother and a slew of other anti-gun nuts in Chicago, including Jody Weis, superintendent of Chicago Police, to discuss gun control.

To be perfectly honest, it's looking more and more like Obama is populating the federal government with a bunch of leftovers from Chicago's Mafia. It appears they're preparing to force Chicago's (and Hitler's) method of controlling the general public, beginning with disarmament, on the Amrican people.

Are we going to stand for this?

Now, admittedly, President Obama has generated a half-way decent smoke screen, with the passage of two pro-gun bills, described here. However, if you look at who attended the anti-gun converence, along with their affiliations, particularly the Controversy sections in the Wikipedia articles, as well as other resources about those organizations on the Internet, there's little doubt that it was a smoke screen, and that his real goal, along with the other antis who met, as well as the organizations to which they belong, is to create a world-dominent financial group of "haves" at the expense of the worker-bee "have nots."

Naturally, in order to prevent disruption of their domination, they have to accomplish that which the Founding Fathers of this nation sought to prevent by means of the Second Amendment.

I do not agree with President Obama taking this guy on, but I understand why. It is a political move. He is pandering to the far left, because the President himself is moving towards the center, getting ready for 2012. This is not unusual political maneuvering...nothing to see here:cool:

As Lysander Spooner points out in No Treason, a highwayman does not lie to you that he is protecting you. And, once he's got your money, he does not continue to force his protection on you.

Well, maybe gangsters do this.

(Thank you very much for the JP Morgan info, and the infiltration clue on the rest of the gang. I knew of a few, but not quite so extensive.)

If the president or the democrats in congress affect any new "gun control" measures, it would be extremely detrimental to their 2012 reelection efforts. They are smart enough to know this.
If he is reelected, then all bets are off.

What about this:

The President will not push for any gun control laws because of 2012. If he retains his seat in the White House, he will push for gun control laws (possible), but the majority of Democrats will not support him because they do not want to lose their seat.

I don't think that they are going to push gun control legislation, even after 2012. They would be better off leaving it up to the states.
