Last night (1-7-11)I was solo at The Block in Orange I was walking around went to the cigar shop to indulge my lungs in a fine cigar and after I came out I walked around for about 10 minutes when a security gaurd motioned for me to come towards him. I did so and he asked me if I was carrying a gun, I replied yes. He then told me that there was a no weapons policy at The Block however there are exactly 0 signs posted. I asked him for his name rank (if any) and the phone number to there office which he gave me. The whole time he was in radio contact with his director. Apparently there radios are synced with local PD because I heard a voice over the radio and asked him if that was PD, he said yes. The PD said that we are not going to respond if they are not causing a problem. So I went to my truck disarmed and walked to the office to ask for a copy of this "policy". I was met at the office again by the director who gave me a card with there "code of conduct", labeled number 17 it said, "Possesion or carrying of any firearms, simulated firearms, or weapons of any kind, openly or concealed, with or without a permit". The director also told me that there security personel are not supposed to detain open carriers they are supposed to contact local PD and let them handle it. Since local PD said they didnt care there was no issue. I think its funny that it says "with or without a permit" I suppose anyone with a CCW isnt welcome either lol. Anyways as we all know state laws over rule there code of conduct and since there are no signs posted there doesnt seem to be anything they can do.
