Fallout From Arizona Shooting - Will It Be Kicking In Our Doors Soon?

Democratic Rep. Carolyn McCarthy of New York plans to introduce legislation in the coming days that would limit access to the type of weaponry used to gun down Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D) and 19 other people.

Giffords remains in critical condition after 22-year-old alleged gunman Jared Loughner open fired at a town hall-style meeting at a Tuscon grocery store on Saturday. Twenty people were shot and six were killed. The shocking incident prompted the House of Representatives to call off this week's planned business and has spurred some lawmakers to propose some new laws related to the shooting, including McCarthy's proposals.

McCarthy today will officially announce she is working on a bill targeting the high-capacity ammunition clips the gunman allegedly used in the shooting, as Politico first reported.

    My Personal POV

First off, let me say that this shooting was horrible and a tragedy. NO ONE, no matter their politicial stance deserves to be shot or murdered for their beliefs, no matter what they might be. This is not speaking to the reasons for which the 2nd Amendment was written. This was NOT a 2nd Amendment issue as some on the Democratic side are trying to get started. This was a senseless shoting, possibly murder, by a deranged individual, definitely NOT one of "US".

After reading over and listening to this story from different sources and angles I have to say that the politicos are running hot and heavy with the parts of the story that helps to serve their individual purposes at hand. The Democratic powers that be are running with the idea that this their chance to get the old ANTI-GUN agendas up and running again! This is VERY DISGUSTING! One of their own has been gunned down and possibly murdered and all they can scheme about is their political agenda!

The above article is typical of the news that's out there today about this and it gets worse, just start Googling! This should go to prove to ANYONE just where the liberal left and socialist running "the show" have their minds! They will dare to use this incident as a political movement against the people.

I have even heard some on our side of the fence blaming Giffords attack on her or things she said or did. The fact is that Gifford had called for a more bi-partisan relationship in the government. Gifford is of course NOT TO BLAME and I'm sure that no one here would dare think or say that. I have not ill-feelings for her, she's an innocent in all this. My issue in these news reports are the Democrats that would be so low as to us this horrible incidence to further theur own positions.

OK, I'm off my soapbox, for now.

Giffords Attack Must Not Derail Firearms Rights - This Is How It Should Be!

This is the way this is story should've been reported:

As most of you have seen or heard by now, our country suffered another tragedy at the hands of a criminal (or terrorist). Yesterday morning in Tuscon, Arizona, 22 year old Jared Loughner - a young man with a history of mental instabilities and criminal activity - attacked a town-hall style meeting held by US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. When the shooting stopped, five people were mortally wounded on the spot, with a sixth passing away at a hospital. Another dozen, including Rep. Giffords, were injured.

As expected, Arizona's newly enacted Constitutional Carry law is already under attack by anti-gun pundits. The reality of the situation is that a permit to carry, or lack thereof, is not a factor that would have changed the outcome of this event. The attacker was a criminal, plain and simple. Arizona's new carry law did not play into this situation.

The unfortunate truth is events like this will always be a part of our social structure. Laws, regulations, and ordinances will never eradicate the scourge on society that criminals and terrorists bring with their actions. We must not allow ourselves to punish the majority of society – the law-abiding and responsible – for the actions of the minority. The punishment must be just, swift, and potent for those who prey on a civilized society. Violent criminals must understand that their actions will bring about stiff punishment that will not be lessened by lengthy appeals or plea bargains, and they need to live in a society that is allowed to protect itself from their heinous actions. The best way to ensure this is to allow all citizens – including those of us who live in Iowa – who are responsible enough to own a firearm to carry a firearm outside of the home. Anything less will be ineffective and will lead to more tragedies.
