I maintain that had Mr. Lougher been using standard-issue Glock mags (17 round), he may well have been able to reload unimpeded and might well have not stopped shooting until he ran out of ammo.
The fact that he was using 30+ round mags, (which are about a foot long) actually made it EASIER for a bystander to grab his mag during reload, and made it harder and slower for him to facilitate reloading.
Had he been using some castrated variant of a 10-round mag, he may well have fired 100 rounds before he was stopped instead of 28...
The problem with the anti's is two-fold:
1) they know almost NOTHING about the technical aspects of firearms, and most of what they THINK they know comes from Hollywood, and
2) when they don't know something, or haven't seen a movie about it, they make things up based on wild fever-dream extrapolation and based on their own projected rage.
We are not working against rational people, here folks. Those that would abolish the RKBA in Congress, in the Bureaucracy, and the "anti" organizations are NOT rational, not knowledgeable, and they are willing to tell ANY lie to get their way.
By definition, they are sociopaths.
We shouldn't be fielding people like John Lott or Larry Pratt to argue with these people. We should be fielding clinical psychologists, criminal pathologists, and LE profilers.
Most low-level anti's aren't political activists, they are sick, sick little people who are filled with repressed rage, and formulate their external reality based on their own internal torment. We would be well served to treat them not so much like political opponents, but like the sick, disturbed, mentally twisted victims of their own demons that they are...
The people at the top of the movement, though, like Josh Sugarmann and Paul Helmke, are FULLY aware of what they are doing, and of the historical legacy to which they are aspiring, and should be regarded in that light as well...
