    It Figures!

Brought to you by the one of the leading sponsors of last year's proposed AWB, which they'll probably try again this year.

."A state senator from Seattle wants to ease Washington's three-strikes law that imprisons repeat offenders for life."

Who is PAYING these people to create jobs AND a safe working environment for criminals?

ETA: With any luck some of these scumbags will pick the wrong victim and we'll actually SAVE money.

According to an interview with Kline on KUOW, of the 330 "third strike" offenders in the system, only 16-20 of them will possibly be eligible for this review, and only when they meet all the requirements.

Its not much, but still, a 3 time felon is a 3 time felon for a reason, and the recidivism rate for such people is dismally high.

I'm not a supporter of life in prison sentences in the first place, as I personally believe that anyone who who is so dangerous to society and cannot reform to be released inside of 20 years needs to be executed. The system as a whole would need a serious overhaul before that kind of punishment could be put into place tho.

I agree, but the point is that he's almost simultaneously taking away our means of self defense with hand (don't think he doesn't want to take away ALL guns) and putting criminals back on the streets with the other.

Either somebody is paying him off or he's a crook anyway.

Kline was on KIRO FM yesterday pitching his bill. Dori Monson grilled him pretty good. When Kline made the argument that all those offenders that had only "Class B" felonies from crimes like Robbery where nobody was hurt, Dori asked why they went ahead and committed the THIRD offense after they had two under their belt and knew they'd get life.

Kline shuffled a bunch and just kept on talking about how it was merely a matter of "proportionality" and cited some biblical references. As I recall, when someone was a problem to society and committed crimes against others, they lost parts of their anatomy or were stoned.

Senator Kline also claims lots of support from prosecutors on this bill. If so, perhaps or "resident prosecutor" might chime in here.

Whats really stupid is that first, this Initiative passed with wide support. Second is that it only involved less than 20 people. This group can get their situation addressed by first showing the world they are capable of being rehabilitated (from inside the prison) and then applying for clemency from the Governor. No need to change the law.

If the law remains as it is, those smart enough will stop before they get the third strike. Those that don't don't belong on the streets, not matter what Class of Felony they commit.

By the way Senator Kline, in that Robbery in the 2nd Degree, where the actor merely held his fist in his pocket and said it was a gun, he could be shot and it would be self defense. Also, should anyone die from a heart attack brought about from the stress of the robbery, he would also be guilty of causing that death. We don't need these worthless individuals on the street. Go back to figuring out how to balance the budget without screwing the public out of more money.

Is this actually a bill or is Kline using the media to get a feel for what people think before he makes a bigger fool out of himself, if thats even possible.

It's a real bill. Senator Kline is one of those self righteous #$%@'s that first wants to take away everyone's guns, and then dump more criminals back on the street. Wonder what he has inside his head that he is trying to think with?

And don't think for two seconds that he would support letting any of us "new felons" out early if he passes his ban. The logical disconnect here is beyond belief.
