    My recent stop

I was recently stopped*, and as the officer approached, I had the window full down and both hands squarely in the 10 and 2 o'clock positions on the steering wheel, with my driver's license sitting between them on the dash.**

    Here's how that conversation went:

LEO: "Do you know why I stopped you?"

Me: "Honestly, Sir, I do not."

LEO (spotting my holstered firearm): "Is that a gun?

    Me: "Yes Sir, it is."

LEO: "Are you aware of the legal ramifications of carrying a firearm?"

    Me: "One hundred percent, Sir."

LEO (grinning): "Well, ok then. Carry on!"

Me: "Thank you very much, Officer - I will!"

*Not saying any of who/what/where/why/how/when, primarily because I honestly don't know about the why.

**For the kiddies out there, this is the only way you're ever going to communicate to them that you respect their position of authority. It goes a long, long way towards eliminating any escalation of conflict.
The First protects the Second, and the Second protects the First. Together, they protect the rest of our Bill of Rights and our United States Constitution, and help We the People protect ourselves in the spirit of our Declaration of Independence.
