Delegate Bob Marshall, true to his word, has introduced this Budget Amendment, 4-0.01 #2h:

Chief Patron: Marshall, R. Item 4-0.01 #2h

General Provisions
Operating Policies

Language:
Page 471, after line 14, insert:
"e. No funding in this budget, or matching funds related to funding included in this budget, may be provided to enforce rules, regulations or policies adopted by board of visitors or other governing bodies of a public institution of higher education that would prohibit a full-time faculty member of the institution who possesses a valid Virginia concealed handgun permit from carrying a concealed handgun on the property of or in the buildings owned by the institution."

Explanation:
(This amendment is self-explanatory.)

Now, if he would only agree to include students alongside 'a full-time faculty member' that would be more helpful.

Get rid of the P4P.

Make all carry lawful in the Commonwealth, well, lawful.

Agreed.

VCDL will strongly endorse this, with the expectation that others will be included when this has been accepted. It is the camel nose under the tent.

Incremental approach.

It is P4P, that is for sure.

Could this backfire, and have school chapters of the Brady Bunch raise private money to enforce the ban? Chapters of these gun grabbers might actually start for that express purpose.

Liberals are notoriously "all talk, no money." Any of these big "tax and spend" folks are free to send a check to the US Treasury, but none of them do so. They want YOU to fund their imaginary perfect world.

Interestingly, in what appears to be a similar tactic, Sentator Ed Houck has introduced an amendment to withhold state funds from CSX if they continue to stage hazardous material tanker cars on tracks near a subdivision in Fredericksburg.

As they say... money talks...
