Repeall Gun Free Zones - proposed legislation

    By Kate Hessling
    Tribune Staff Writer

LANSING — The area’s state senator introduced proposed legislation Tuesday eliminating “gun-free” areas where licensed individuals currently are banned from carrying concealed weapons.

Current state law has designated certain areas to be gun-free public zones, including schools, hospitals, sports stadiums, university dorms and classrooms, day care centers, churches and casinos.

“We are constitutionally able to defend ourselves when we need it, yet we lose our constitutional right when we walk into the door of a gun-free zone,” Green told the Associated Press.

Its still on committee, don't get too exited. Hopefully though. What I'm worried about right now, is obummers gun control thing that he's supposed ti unveil next month. Magazines over 10 rounds are probably gone.

Not unless some Republicans in the House want to end their own careers...

That's for sure, I vote too. I'm afraid they are going to try it anyhow. Just don't want to wait another 10 years for it to go away again, and that's if they don't make it permanent.

If they get another AWB or even just a magazine ban you can be 100% certain it will NOT come with an expiration date. They will have learned from the prior mistake. And it will be bigger in scope also.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Sadly so am I, they will get something through. What that is, how big, what it will cover and who will be most affected is still up in the air.

It's not going over well in some states:

Maine: Proposed Ban on Ammunition Magazine Defeated

On Thursday, January 27, the Maine Legislature's Legislative Council defeated a measure proposed by state Representative Anne Haskell (D-117), which would have banned the sale of ammunition magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition. Since the proposal was requested after the January 7 deadline, the ten person Legislative Council needed to approve the measure before it could be considered by the legislature. The measure failed by a 5 to 5 vote.

That's good news. They did force feed the health scare bill to us without our opinion or approval. That might be getting tossed out by SCOTUS though.
