This bill changes little. Any school can still pass regulations that prohibit carry, and nearly all will. Is this the best the CC people have? Public institutions should not legally be permitted to enact such regulations, period. Private institutions, of course, should be able to do as they see fit.

This bill is pathetic.

Only private or independent schools. State funded colleges may not, which includes almost all of them.

(c)A private or independent institution of higher
education in this state may
, after consulting with students, staff,
and faculty of the institution, adopt rules, regulations, or other
provisions prohibiting license holders from carrying handguns on
premises that are owned or operated by the institution and located
on the campus of the institution.

I see it's only schools of higher education.

With all the high school gang bangers out there, I'd have no problem with teachers and administrators concealed carrying on high school grounds.

And why should out youngest not be protected? Someday, sometime, some nut is going to go off in an elementary school. Already happened in Germany.

Protect the children.

Yeah, that's actually a very common occurrence. A lot of the bills I'm watching have had duplicates introduced.

My reading comprehension kung fu is weak! Thanks for the clarification.

Bump. Haven't had time to confirm this yet but i recieved a call from a College Police Chief who stated that 2 Senate members flopped on this Bill not giving it enough votes to pass.

He's dead wrong. This bill hasn't even been voted on by the house, let alone reached the senate yet.

Here's how the other campus bills are going;

HB 86 - Left pending in House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee
SB 354 - Out of committee, awaiting senate vote
HB 2178 - In Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee awaiting a hearing
HB 750 - Out of committee, awaiting house vote
HB 1167 - Left pending in House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee
HB 1356 - Left pending in House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee
