Made a quick trip into Las Vegas Saturday evening, a little shopping for the wife. Was in three different Kohl’s looking for an item and went to her favorite bead store. No problems carrying in any of them. The bead storeowner knows us and has said he has no problem with me carrying. Went to In-N-out West Sahara near the 215. Sat next to a young family. We were there long enough to wait for our number to be called and finish eating. The young father asked me what I was carrying. Always wonder if there is a hidden agenda to the question when asked. I answered with my usual in a matter of fact attitude make, model, and caliber never knowing their intention for the question, adjusting my attitude as needed to their reply. He said his service weapon was the same however a 9mm. He said he was law enforcement. I asked are you Metro and he said yes. I said well thanks for protecting us. He said you are welcome. Most of the conversation was questions on my retention holster and he seemed to be in favor of me using a retention holster. He asked me if I had any problems with business not allowing me in with the firearm. I said most of the casinos would not allow the firearms however, no problem with the majority of the other business. He said yep the casinos do not like them as far as the other business, he said most probably realize a robber as a rule is not going to blatantly carry a well fitted holstered gun in the open. He said he had never encountered an open carrying person in public other than seeing the one group that carries on the strip a few times. About that time, his infant child was starting to fuss and he and his wife stood up getting ready to leave. I said well I know that group well. He said do you know Tim? Yes I do. He said well if you are friends with him I just do not agree with some of what he does. I said I am not a 100% on board with some of his ways and about that time his infant child was starting up again and his wife said we need to go. It really was a good time to end the conversation. I wanted him to leave with a positive experience with an open carry person that may be shared with his co-workers. It was a great meeting and good day of open carrying.
