David Keene will become the new Prez of the NRA

    I don't like this development:

Two faces that are quite familiar to conservatives nationwide will be moving to some key positions. David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union since 1984, is leaving the helm of the nationís oldest conservative membership organization. Keene, who is also a vice president of the National Rifle Association, is expected to assume the presidency of the NRA once held by the late Charlton Heston.

    ...

He also worked in the presidential campaigns of George H.W. Bush and Bob Dole.
    Is Keene really conservative?

    Or is he really corrupt?

It doesn't matter much. Nearly all power in the NRA is with the Executive VP

The president of the NRA is pretty much a ceremonial position. The real power in the NRA is with the Executive VP. Wayne is not likely to give up that gravy train without a fight.

Hmm... Given the fact that most of the general public falls somewhere in the moderate middle, electing/appointing someone along the far right is a tactic sure to alienate most of the general public.

    Bad move.

Look at when the Republican Party has been massively successful in elections in the past 35 years: Reagan, Gingrich and the Contract, the 2010 midterms. Republicans succeed when they are unapologetically conservative. When they try to pander to where they mistakenly think the middle is (Ford, Dole, McCain, the 2006 midterms), they fail miserably.

Don't mistake where the "middle" is.
