Federal Concealed Carry Legislation -- S176

California Senator, Barbara Boxer, has introduced legislation with the express intent of "To establish minimum standards for States that allow the carrying of concealed firearms." On the surface, it appears to work towards standardization of concealed carry laws. Read closely and it appears as if the good Senator is attempting the Californication of handgun laws across the country. In other words, she seeks to turn all states which allow concealed carry into "may issue" states. My favorite section (NOT!) is:

(2) at a minimum, require that an applicant for a permit to carry a concealed firearm--

‘(A) be a legal resident of the United States;

‘(B) be not less than 21 years of age;

‘(C) demonstrate good cause for requesting a concealed firearm permit; and

‘(D) demonstrate that the applicant is worthy of the public trust to carry a concealed firearm in public.

This is just more of the same old stale abuse of the U.S. Constitution under the commerce clause by the Lefties. The Congressional power under the commerce clause available to Sen. Boxer and her colleagues is merely to regulate UNIFORMITY in the RECOGNITION OF concealed carry licenses issued by the several states - not to establish intrastate issuance policy.

Ofcourse Sen. Boxer was undoubtedly too busy demonstrating during the '60's to have time to attend her government classes.
