WATERLOO The Black Hawk County Conservation Board will not ask the Board of Supervisors to extend its firearm ban from the courthouse to conservation buildings and property.
. . .
Board member John Mardis said lawmakers at both the state and federal level are moving "toward more open and permissive" laws regarding carrying weapons.
"I don't think we are in one bit more danger now than we were before," he said, adding that those who use their weapons improperly are also the ones who are not properly licensed to carry them. "I think we should leave the Board of Supervisors alone and if they want to include our buildings or property they can."
